Hakaya is a comic book project, reimagining and retelling traditional cultural Heritage stories in a modern new medium accessible for younger generations. 

Synopsis:

An adventure comic inspired by Palestinian and Levantine Hekayat, retelling their stories and moral lessons through a connected world rooted in Arab culture, where folklore characters meet, interact, and encounter the magic of old tales.

The story follows the Halfling (Nos Nseis)  who is a pillar of Palestinian folktales, as he goes on an adventure exploring a magical world full of  quirky traditional characters and wisdoms, while dealing with many dangers and a dark plot that threatens the livelihood of local communities. 

The Project aims to explore the setting inspired by the Palestinian Hekayat (folktales) our relationship with the land, history, and magic, the role of women in our communities as well as exploring our myths and legends in a new light. 

Exploring a rich setting different and unique to the area, from Architecture, Geography, Fashion, Food, Traditions, and many more aspects that can only be found in these stories. 

It is an introspection of our history and culture through the lens of a fantasy adventure story.
